Hi everyone me again;
So on my daily searches through the interweb I made a startling discovery; A plea from Canada great Alex Bunbury to Canada to forgive his son.
You see according to Alex everything has been a great misunderstanding, Alex loves Canada and is Canadian through and through however the same cannot be said for Teal. Teal was born in Hamilton, Ontario but the family moved to Europe when he was 2 and he was raised in the Maritimo system. Then they moved back to North America to Minnesota and Teal never grew up in our great nation and thus never felt truly Canadian. When he told CBC that he would feel wrong to play for any other nation but Canada he made a terrible error.
He told his father immediately after that he had made a mistake, he didn't feel Canadian at all, and all he was trying to do was not disappoint his Dad. Then Alex told him he had to do what he thought was best for him and not his Father and that was when Teal decided that he grew up in America and was in fact American. As crazy as it sounds, Alex is truly to blame for all this, for pushing his son onto Canadian soccer calling up Stephen Hart and introducing him to his son. He pushed him so far to play for Canada but then Teal realized he did not ever want to and like all parents learn, you cannot live your childrens lives for them.
I write this because before the article I called Teal a traitor, to me he was like all the rest who have turned their backs on Canada but in reality he isn't. He is not truly Canadian like Alain Rochat is not truly Canadian and no one blames him for playing for the Swiss. I made this article to say to Teal Bunbury I forgive you and I understand and also I am sorry for any pain I may have caused you or your family.
In the end he wasn't really Canadian after all.
