Been digging in to things a bit all day. Even talked to a friend who works in the government about how things might work. Basically the time line is 10-12 weeks if he is serious about getting passport in order

there’s nothing outrageously positive in that, but just the fact that they’re acknowledging it’s being worked on has got to be a good thing. Can’t imagine he’d be enough of a troll to put everyone through these hoops only to still decide not to play.

will wait until I see him out there in red, but definitely feeling positive about this one.

It seems that the real trouble will be in gaining a dual citizenship with Holland, very easy in Canada apparently not so in Holland. Reason why he needs the dutch passport is to play professionally in Europe. Any country in the EU can work in any of those countries anyone from outside the EU (example Canada) would need to get a work visa from the countries immigration and believe me that is not always easy especially in certain countries like England, makes transfers a real pain.
