Adrian Heath to Toronto FC? Good idea, but...

Nothing to do with the story, just an awesome photo. - Abelimages

Bringing in a successful coach with North American experience is a good plan. But who's exactly behind the move to bring him in? Why now?

Reports came out towards the end of last week over at Soccer by Ives that Toronto FC are in talks with Orlando City boss Adrian Heath about coming to Toronto, apparently to be an assistant coach under Paul Mariner.

My latest for Sportsnet looks at that possibility. I like the idea, think he'd be a good coach to bring in, a definite upgrade on Jim Brennan. I'm also a little scared at just what the fact that we're trying to make deals like this now means for our chances, or desire, to bring in a GM/President/whatever between Mariner and Anselmi. Does this mean that the Mariner/Earl Cochrane combo is as much as we're going to get in that regard?
