A look back at TFC's 2012 for Sportsnet.

2012. A year of hope and despair. Toronto FC's most TFC-esque season ever.

It had everything that makes up a proper Toronto FC campaign: failed high-profile signings, injuries, the defensive comedy, roster changeover, a coaching change, off-field drama, protesting supporters, and of course the losing.

Oh, the losing. A nine-game losing streak to start the season, and a 14 game winless streak to finish it off.

What made this season worse, aside from the heavy cumulative effect of the five seasons of struggle before it, was the genuine existence of hope to start things off...

A roller coaster ride from hope to despair and back again, it's often how I've thought of the whole TFC supporter experience, and 2012 certainly didn't disappoint in that respect. High hopes, low depths of despair, and now here we all are going back up to hope again behind Kevin Payne. Surely this time we'll be right when we say it can't get any worse than it got in 2012.
