If anyone is considering this, I certainly am, should be noted that all games on National Broadcasters will be blacked out. That means if you buy from a Canadian address you wont get any of the games that are shown on TSN, TSN2 or RDS. You will still be able to get games that are being shown on Gol tv since that is a local broadcaster. One thing I have been warned about though is that for those games on Gol chances are you will get an American game feed instead.

I purchased MDL last season (for $29.99 btw) and I had mixed results. If you don’t subscribe to TSN/GOLTV/Sportsnet it’s good. The domestic blackouts last 48 hours, so you can still watch them, just not live. The added bonus of MDL was that they archived all the CanMNT games(also available 48 hours after) so if any one wants to review those games later it is possible. The American feeds are alright, it really depends on the commentators, if I didn’t like them I just muted the volume and played the Fan590 (or Team 1410 for Vancouver games) radio feed over it. If your connection is good, then the HD stream is worth it.

If you’re a TFC fan wanting to purchase MDL/MLS Live I’d wait for a promo pricing deal that usually pops up one or two weeks after (and since TFC doesn’t play in the first week it might work out) where they take around $10 off. I also recommend Googling for any promo coupons since MLS always has deals.

Also if you solely want TFC games...

… before anyone buys it, I’d recommend waiting for the TSN/TSN 2 schedule to come out because if the majority of TFC games are blocked live it might not be worth it. I suspect they won’t be because we have 3 Canadian teams now so TSN will try to cover all 3 equally.

And for those wondering, no CCL or NCC games are archived on MDL/MLS Live.

that brings up another good point. when the hell are tsn and gol going to come out with the tv schedules?

even if it’s tsn2, i really hope they show a lot of games for all 3 teams. at least from may onwards when they’re not swamped with nhl playoffs.

I suppose they could be waiting to see if there’s any poker tournaments that they could air instead of MLS games ;)

Sorry, I don’t mean to be hi-jacking this this thread, but I also remembered way I was slightly annoyed with MDL last season and it was because I couldn’t watch the MLS Playoffs Final. So yeah, if you want to watch the play-offs, you’ll probably need to find a feed (or a bar…) because if any of the Canadian teams make it, TSN will most definitely cover it.

...oh right i'd have to buy this again

REALLY useful at playoff time. Hopefully less useful this year if TFC make the playoffs and get some coverage on Canadian networks

Hey, quick question… For games covered by Sportsnet (usually SN1), does this count as a regional or national broadcaster? I.e. blackout or no blackout? And how long are games archived for? Thanks for the info!

Don’t expect sportsnet will have any games that this service would cover. They will most likely only have ccl and v cup matches.

If MLS Live is airing any Canandian non-TSN broadcasts of TFC it’ll be GolTV. Sportsnet was used to cover the Vancouver games (and honestly it was some of the worst coverage I have ever seen). Only TSN/TSN2 is blacked out. Games are archived until the end of the post-season.

Ok so now that SN1 is officially on board for 6 games, I guess I’ll revive my question… will the SN1 games be blacked out? Cheers!

Should not be an issue as they are not classified as national broadcasts.
