He's back...love him or hate him, Dwayne de Rosario is back at BMO Field for another late afternoon clash (and he's brought a certain Maicon Santos back with him), the first half of a home-and-home series with D.C. United. History usually has a way of kicking the Reds in the behind when ex-Reds return (see: Carl Robinson), and after a draw in a horrific first leg of the Canadian Championship against the Montreal Impact, the Reds are looking for more.
Meanwhile, DC is coming off a 5-3 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes last week, ending a seven game unbeaten run -- and you know that DeRo and his crew will want to restart another chain of undefeated matches. While Canadian Dejan Jakovic and Josh Wolff will likely not be available, TFC will have to contend with Maicon Santos, who compliments a potent DC attack. The Reds may see the introduction of Jeremy Hall to their lineup, but otherwise, there are no major changes on who will be appearing.
Historically, Toronto is 3-7-2 against the team from the US capital, with the teams' last encounter ending in a thrilling 3-3 draw last August in Washington, DeRo playing the spoiler then. The teams' lineups have changed drastically since then (first goal scorer in that match Peri Marosevic is no longer with the squad, for one), and DC's last two visits to Toronto have resulted in shut out victories, all of which doesn't look very good for the Reds' chances.
For your reading pleasure, we have Duncan's chat with Black and Red United's Martin Shatzer, and James' extremely detailed Know Your Enemy report. You can also win prizes by having the best crystal ball in our Are You Smarter Than Preki? game -- plenty of goodies to keep you wishing, hoping and a-prayin' (Oops, how did that Dusty Springfield reference come in there?)
We will not have a CoverIt Live screen today (that will resume on the second half of the home-and-home on May 19th against the same team), so it's back to the old comforts of the comments section, where other WTR writers will be on hand to bring you all the spills, chills and thrills from this match, starting at 3pm Eastern when team news comes out, so no matter if you are at home watching or in the stands of BMO, you can join in on the discussion.
Come on you Reds!
