Canada Men's U20 Roster has a Toronto FC Flair
Nick Dasovic, the former Toronto FC head coach, has called up 20 young men to be part of the U20 men's training camp down in Mexico. While there, the team will play a pair of friendlies against their Mexican counterparts on July 6th and 8th. The roster has some very strong TFC connections with the club being represented by a senior team player, academy players, and a handful of former academy players. Oscar Cordon highlights the bunch as the creative midfielder will spend time away from the first team and hopefully get some valuable experience as his development seems to have been slowed by a real lack of playing time the past two years. Cordon will be joined by four defenders from the academy program. Nikola Paunic, Skylar Thomas, Jordan Murrell, and Tyler Pasher will be looked on to provide big contributions in the teams back line as these academy prospects make up four of the seven defenders called. That is not the end of the Toronto FC connections though as their are a handful of former prospects invited to the camp. That list includes Stefan Vukovic, Bryce Alderson, Keven Alemen, and Jonathan Lao. The question of how TFC has lost so much young Canadian talent from their system is a whole other issue for a proper post. In the meantime, Happy Canada Day!
