Sad Eckersley is sad. - USA TODAY Sports
My latest for Sportsnet looks at a resurgent seeming Richard Eckersley
In 2011, Richard Eckersley looked good, especially as a right back in a back 5 with Torsten Frings at the helm. 2012 wasn't kind to him, though his style didn't really change, under both Winter and Mariner his mistakes were magnified and his tendency to try and do too much didn't help with the chaos back there.
In 2013, well so far Eckersley's looking good. Ryan Nelsen's system and Danny Califf's experience are providing a solid defence to help cover up his errors, and he's making positive contributions to that defence as well, his speed and energy really fit well with the high pressing system.
His style still hasn't really changed, but his surroundings make him look a lot better.
