Fresh off a bye week, TFC have a tough assignment to open BMO Field for 2013: the defending league champions the LA Galaxy. Now Beckham-less after their second straight MLS championship, the team is still formidable in its composition, but two lacklustre results against Chivas USA and Colorado could be giving some TFC fans a bit of hope -- and the fact that the Reds were able to deal them the fatal blow in Champions League play last year, might serve as a beacon of light.
The team will be without two major pieces of the puzzle in Robbie Keane and Omar Gonzalez, and coach Bruce Arena will also have the CONCACAF Champions League semi-final in the back of his mind. And if the Chivas and Rapids games have taught us anything, is maybe, just maybe, parking the bus isn't such a bad idea, given how A.J. DeLaGarza and the backline collectively fell asleep, TFC-style, when Chivas equalized. But rest not merry defenders in Danny Califf and Darren O'Dea, for the likes of Jose Villarreal and Jack McBean will be on the prowl in their place.
As for TFC, there isn't much to report other than the fact that Julio Cesar has befallen to the ides of late March, and will no longer be counted. At least the supporters will be out in force, and for those of you who can't make it to the match, at least there is this open match thread. So join us here, won't you, starting at around 1:30pm ET? (And before that, making sure to make your picks, to see if you are indeed, smarter than Aron Winter.)
the thread is open, so feel free to chat, ask questions of our writers or just vent your spleen (but do remember the house rules of course)...otherwise, have fun and enjoy the match!
