FC Edmonton v Toronto FC
Commonwealth Stadium, 8pm E.D.T
Sportsnet Ontario and Sportsnet West
Yeah, that's right, 8pm our time, 6pm local time, cos we're Toronto, so suck it Alberta! It's a bit of a strange start time, not just because it's a bit of a slap in the face to the local fans who might have wanted to go to the game at a more usual evening game time, but also because Sportsnet have manouvered themselves out of a potential double header. Vancouver are playing Montreal at the exact same time, so having the FC v FC clash at 8 locally and thus right after that game would have made a bit more sense.
Oh well, that just means another game to follow in the background, and then when those 2 games are done, there's the Concacaf Champions League final 2nd leg on Gol TV at 10 pm, Real Salt Lake taking on Mexican side Monterrey after ending the first leg 2-2. So a feast of football, and then there's also the habs/bruins game going on at the same time as well.
The big unknown going into this game is how many of the first team will be rested to avoid fatigue, or plastic pitch related stress to niggling injuries, or just for Aron Winter to get a look at the fringe players and academy kids. Hopefully not too many, as I really think that approach could leave us up against iot for the second leg next week.
