New York Red Bulls v Toronto FC
Red Bull Arena, 8pm E.D.T
Here's where we find out just how bad Vancouver are, or more hopefully where we see how much of a confidence boost TFC got from all the good news over the last week. On paper it's a bit of a mismatch, the Red bulls have a lot more quality throughout their squad (except in goal where TFC have a clear advantage)and that's before we consider all TFC's injuries.
Watching the TFC preview show on Gol tv last night, they gave the distinct impresssion that Midfielder Tony Tchani would be partnering Right Back Richard Eckersley in the centre of defence, and Julian De Guzman apparently re-injured himself so won't be playing either, so who knows who that means in midfield.
If TFC can get a result of some kind here, well I just might start believing that last week was the TSN turning point of the season and we do have a chance of making the playoffs. The good news as far as that is concerned is that the game isn't on paper, the Red Bulls are in a bit of a slump right now, and even better news is that the game's on TSN so more than Gol TV's audience of 17 +1 cat will actually be able to see the game
For pre game reading, you can read my preview here, the Red Bulls blog Once a Metro's preview here and MLSSoccer.com's more neutral and facty preview here. Torontofc.ca as always has a preview and interviews and such like up, and finally, why not predict the score of the game over at Are you smarter than Mo Johnston?.
I'll be having dinner some time between now and the game starting, so it's unlikely you'll see team news here anywhere close to first, but I will be here with all that at some point, and for the first time in a long time, I'm sitting at home with my laptop, so will be able to fully participate myself. Join me.
