When we played Chicago at home, it all looked to be going so well, for the second straight home game, Joao Plata and Maicon Santos had both scored, and done their funny little dances as Toronto FC went 2-0 up. The supporters were hap-hap-happy again, feeling glorious as they sung in the rain. Then Aron Winter subbed Big Joao out of the game, everything just kind of imploded after that and we ended up hanging on for a very subdued feeling 2-2 draw. Will it be different this time?
Probably not, that was one of 15 ties already this season for Chicago, which combined with only 2 wins means they're actually behind TFC in the standings so far. TFC are better, but it's in Chicago so that evens it up. TFC are looking good going forward these days, but very very errratic at the back. Most of the team will be knackered after playing against Tauro, but importantly Torsten Frings should be well rested, and hey, Chicago played on Thursday as well, against DC United. Everything cancels out, so more than likely we'll get another tie, and if I had to guess, I'd probably go with 2-2 again.
At this stage of the season, there's not much left for either team to play for in the league, so maybe it'll be another chance for experimentation for TFC and Winter, which may mean a first start for Dasan Robinson after his sub appearance against Tauro, giving him a chance to play against his old team and hopefully prove them wrong for giving up on him. The player going the other way in that trade was of course Dan Gargan (who's newly on twitter, very exciting), and he'll probably be looking to prove his many detractors among TFC fans wrong as well.
With a new potential formation, squad rotation issues with this game coming between two CCL games, and the big question of just who exactly is out first team squad anyway, combined with the fact that I'm in Chicago so don't have much time for this, well I'm not going to bother guessing at a formation, and for a preview this is all you're getting.
This will serve as the game thread as well due to the aforementioned lack of time, I'll try and update from Toyota Park on my iphone as best I can before the game and at half and full time
