The Jamaica Observer today published an article based around an interview with Toronto FC Centre back Dicoy Williams. A lot of it's understandably focused on his status for Jamaica's World Cup qualifiers this year, but there's some interesting stuff in there from a TFC perspective.

Firstly, he confirms that he is re-signed with Toronto for next year.

"I played like eight games, but the games that I played I guess were very good, so they gave me the opportunity to be back. I signed a new contract when I was leaving, so it's less pressure because I was first all thinking about the contract, being back in Toronto because it's a very good city, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to be back," he said.

"That was one of the main things that was getting me down, stressing me because when you leave Jamaica and in four months' time you're injured, you don't know if you're going to get back a contract, so the day I signed the contract I was so happy and the stress started to come off," he shared.

He also reveals he spent a month in L.A at the Athletes Performance Centre, the same place Adrian Cann spent time at, and though he'll be back in Toronto for pre season training on January 16th, it'll be 2 or 3 months before he's ready to return, which suggest to me it's unlikely he'll be fit to start the season.

It's good news he'll be back as he looked good in partnership with Cann last season before they both got injured. What this means for our chances of bringing in a new, improved Centre Back is unknown, but presuming he's on a similar salary to last year ($50,000), and can get back to the form he showed last season, even using up an international spot it's a good signing.
