MLS has confirmed the time and location of the 2013 MLS combine and MLS SuperDraft. The draft will be conducted during the NSCAA convention which will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana this January. The draft itself will begin at 12 eastern on Thursday, January 17.
This will be the ninth year in a row that the MLS draft has been held during the NSCAA convention and it will also be the second straight year that the SuperDraft consists of 2 rounds and 38 selections. The supplemental draft rounds will not take place until January 22nd. That draft will consist of four rounds and will be conducted via league wide conference call.
MLS also announced the details for the 2013 Draft Combine which is once again set to take place in Fort Lauderdale during the week leading up to the draft. This year's event will run from January 11th until the 15th at Central Broward Regional Park. The format will be the same as last year with prospects being divided into four squads with matches taking place on the 11th, 13th, and 15th.
The list of players that will be included in this year's combine is not yet available but it will be finalized by MLS coaches and technical staff with the help of a select panel of college coaches. This year the combine will be open to the public with fans who want to attend being able to purchase $10 tickets on any of the game days.
The selection order for the 2013 SuperDraft was determined by club's position at the end of the season with selections being made in reverse order of regular season finish for non-playoff teams and then the order of elimination being used for teams that made the playoffs.
