In the wee hours this morning - trust me it was wee - our Women's National team played their final match of the Four Nations Cup against Norway (no they didn't bring their own ref). So early was this game that once I realized there was no stream to watch I decided that I could better support the team by dreaming of their victory than by "watching" on Twitter.
In a game filled with few chances for either side it was a strong showing for a youth filled team playing against a strong Norwegian team. GK Erin McLeod posted her second clean sheet of the tournament and continues to highlight the strength of the goalkeeping tandem of McLeod and Karina LeBlanc.
The Canadian team played the tournament without star striker Christine Sinclair who is still serving her four game suspension imposed by FIFA for her comments during the Olympics.
After the match Herdman praised his team: "The players competed well physically against a very strong Norwegian side - and we matched them." said Herdman after the game.
"We had the better passages of play but they probably had the better chances from direct play and set pieces."
"All credit has to go to the young players, this tournament has been a good start for Canada, but there is still a long way to go."
The women next play in the Cyprus Cup from March 4-13
