Canada WNT returns to Edmonton with mostly familiar faces...for now.

New, comments

Call it deja vu if you may, but if John Herdman's Canadian womens squad for the October 31st friendly in Edmonton looks familiar, you're probably not alone.

Hey, it's Diana Matheson! She'll be on the squad in Edmonton!

It's a place where the Canadian women's team found its starlet in Christine Sinclair, and now we know the first 18 players who may take the field on Halloween night at Commonwealth Stadium in a friendly match with South Korea.

Many staples of the Canadian rosters that you may have seen over the course of the past summer in the NWSL, like Sinclair, Diana Matheson, Desiree Scott and goalkeeping duo Karina LeBlanc and Erin McLeod, are present. The only name that you may not recognize is Sura Yekka, a 16 year old defender who's getting her first senior call up.

However, in the announcement today coach John Herdman promised more players will be called up, so this is likely not the definitive list of players who will gather in Edmonton starting October 24th.
