Only a small handful of TFC players have ever earned the honour, of which the list includes the likes of Joao Plata, Dwayne De Rosario, Amado Guevara and Chad Barrett. Today, Robert Earnshaw put himself into that elite club after the North American Soccer Writers (NASW) named him their MLS player of the week.
Coming off a two goal performance that sealed victory for the Reds on their home, it's hard to argue against such a deserved honour. Okay, so maybe it was in a week when both Seattle and LA were off on byes, but stilll. By winning the honour, Earnshaw becomes the first TFC player to earn the title since Danny Koevermans did in Week 17 of last season, and the earliest winner in the seven seasons TFC players have been in the mix for the award -- the previous best was De Rosario's win in week 5 of season 2010.
