Only two home matches left, Toronto FC needs to get a win on Wednesday night against the Houston Dynamo. What happened in LA doesn’t matter. There are only four games left in the season and as far as we know TFC will have to win every one of them to make the playoffs. No more looking at the standings, goals scored or form it’s simple from here on out. Beat the team in front of you. Nothing more than all three points will do.
Wednesday will not only be the second last time the Reds will be at BMO for a 2014 regular season match, come Thursday morning they will no longer hold that last glimmer of hope that supporters have had hiding in their back pocket for months, the game in hand. That’s right after Wednesday TFC will have played just as many games as everyone else in the Eastern Conference for the first time all season. TFC have been playing catch up all season. While everyone was kicking off their season on March 8th TFC was in their cozy beds dreaming of playoffs come November. There were times when TFC had as many as five games in hand over the competition. This was always the silver lining through the rough patches of the year. TFC had more games to play than anyone else and would use them to distance themselves from the pack but when Thursday comes they will no longer have that. Everything will be even. This is where you stand.
How will TFC stand heading into their final three games of the season? Will they be level on points with Columbus, knowing that they would then control their own destiny? Will they be where they are right now, three points back and in need of a lifeline? As always 2 points for the correct result, 1 point for the correct TFC score and 1 point for the correct opponent score.
