2 games, 2 wins, 6 points, 3 goals for Jermain Defoe, 3rd in the East and 1st in the 2015 CCL qualification race (with a game in hand). The basic stats are fun right now, but there's a good chance this will be the game it all comes crashing down a bit. Real Salt Lake are in way what TFC have tried to buy this summer, Rimando, Beckerman and Saborio would be the steadily built spine of a team, the equivalent of Cesar, Bradley and Defoe. When you add in Javier Morales, and a very solid defence returning intact from last season (only 2 players were added in the off season!) it's obvious that RSL will once again be one of the teams to beat this season. Getting any kind of result at Rio Tinto stadium would be a welcome surprise for any team.
It might be made harder for TFC as Jonathan Osorio left training with a hamstring injury, though there's no word of how serious it is. That's on top of already having to replace Jackson in the starting lineup, and the view from training suggests we might see Mark Bloom moved into midfield with Bradley Orr at right back, which would presumably leave Alvaro Rey on the left wing. Depth is the big concern of most people when looking at the squad, here's our first chance to test that out a bit, though the arrival, foinally, of Issey Nakajima-Farran may help in that respect.
