Toronto FC have suffered their first loss of the 2014 MLS Season, falling 3-0 to Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium. The poor possession and passing numbers finally caught up with the club, as they were dominated from start to finish by a more organized and opportunistic RSL side.
Alvaro Saborio converted a penalty in the 11th minute and added a goal in the 55th to lead the home side to victory. Luis Gil had the other goal as a result of one of the many instances of dominating ball control from Real Salt Lake.
The crowd at Rio Tinto was jubilant throughout the match, a first taste of what it now means for other supporters to have their clubs beat Toronto FC. As the game wound down they chanted "Overrated" at the disgruntled away players.
A more detailed analysis of what went wrong for TFC will be posted later. But here are the highlights and match summary of Toronto's first setback of 2014.
