TFC will go from competing for the Voyageurs Cup to the Trillium Cup this weekend. The Federico Higuain-less Crew visit BMO this Saturday. As pointless and fabricated as the Trillium Cup may seem Toronto FC have only ever won it once, which doesn’t sit well with a lot of people. Not because the Reds have only lifted it once but because the yellow football team has dominated the series since Toronto joined Major League Soccer. Rarely has Toronto gone to Columbus and won like they did this season. In fact that only ever happened once previously. That early season win means that a win on home soil will give the squad some trophy lifting reps ahead of their trip to Montreal next week.

Columbus will be without their best player and league MVP candidate Federico Higuain this weekend due to an accumulation of yellow cards. The Crew have been on a slide as of late after starting the season as the hottest team in the league so being without their talisman forward is a big blow. Columbus’ win last week against Chicago was their first since they last played TFC on April 5^th. Was that the end of their slide or just a blip?
