Round 17 in the WTR Fantasy League finished up like many of the first 16, with Canadian Bacons on top of the standings. This week though the Bacons’ also were the joint weekly winner along with Michael Przybylowski on 91 points. Both Bacons’ and KS Gornik Konin captained Jermain Defoe and coupled him with Harry Shipp and Erick Torres. Pedro Morales, Nick Hagglund and Joe Bendik also featured for both teams.

If you haven’t picked up Chivas’ Erick Torres yet you’ve missed out on a lot of goals. Torres has scored in four straight games and 12 out of 17 games this season. Chivas doesn’t have another bye until Round 32 so if Chivas can keep their recent form Torres can be locked into your starting lineup.

Keeping on the Chivas band wagon, how often can one really say that, they are the hottest team going right now so why not pile on a few more goats while you can. Carlos Bocanegra, Dan Kennedy and Bobby Burling are all budget friendly and solid options on the back end of your lineup. Chivas don’t have a tonne of DGW’s left, only two (Rounds 26 and 33) but these three guys will be out there every week.

If you missed the news, Christian Fernandez has left DC so needless to say he will not be gaining any more fantasy points this year and should not be on 8.7% of MLS Fantasy teams.

Fabian Castillo was suspended for his actions prior to the World Cup break and is still slated to miss two more games. With Dallas on a bye this week that is three rounds until Castillo should even cross your mind.

Lastly is David Horst. He picked up an injury in the Sporting KC match in Round 14 and hasn’t seen the field since. Prior to then no one’s stock in Houston had taken a bigger hit with the Dynamo’s dip in form than Horst. Combined with the injury and it seems like it is all downhill for Horst.

Just one game for the Reds this week as they host Houston this week. TFC should be able to solve the Houston defense but will they see their way past Tally Hall? Defoe is a lock, as always, and should receive heavy consideration for the armband. Michael Bradley should be ready to go the full 90 this week but at $9.8m may not be the best option out there. The TFC defense should be in good shape for a clean sheet as the Dynamo offense has been less than dynamic this season. All defenders, excluding the suspended Hagglund, should be options for your team.
