Toronto FC vs Chicago Fire: Game Thread

Follow along here as TFC starts a 3 game homestand with a very winnable game against Chicago.

Toronto FC vs Chicago Fire
BMO Field 7pm Eastern

Alright, so TFC aren't a real contender to be topping the table. Fair enough, that'd be a big ask to get there in one season no matter the amount of cash thrown at the problem. What we get to focus on now, with a run of games against Eastern conference teams who probably still have hopes of overhauling TFC and getting into the playoff spots themselves, is keeping that position at the top of the mushy middle. 13 points from 11 games post world cup break can't really be seen as anything other than disappointing, but still, there TFC sit in 3rd place, though with the games in hand buffer reduced somewhat.

That runs starts with a game against Chicago, who have only 4 wins all season, who haven't scored more than once in 9 games now, and who lost to Montreal last week, let that one sink in a bit. The Jermaine Jones saga just keeps on going so we don't need to worry about him, but the one thing that gives any hardened TFC fan a sinking feeling is the signing of Robert Earnshaw, it just seems way too obvious that he'll score at least once.

But even with Earnshaw, TFC really should win this one, games against Chicago at BMO Field are often fun, and games during the ex have a certain added je ne sais quoi to them as well, so I'm expecting to enjoy this game. As if all that wasn't enough, there's a good chance some if not all of Mark Bloom, Steven Caldwell and Jermian Defoe might be back, which are all good things.
