Toronto FC are officially chasing a playoff spot. After a miserable home and home series with the Philadelphia Union which saw the Reds get shut out in both games TFC now sit 7^th in the Eastern Conference. Still with a game in hand over the teams above them the Reds season is far from over. If they can pick themselves up and string together a few complete performances as a team a club first playoff appearance is still a possibility.

The Reds head to Chicago this weekend to battle a Chicago Fire squad who’s playoff hopes are getting slimmer by the day. Like TFC the Fire have a game in hand over the teams currently sitting 3^rd to 6^th in the East however Chicago has been playing catch up to the playoffs all season. Chicago has struggled for offense this season, having scored more than one goal just one time since June 7^th. Unfortunately TFC followers remember that game all too well as it was 3 weeks ago when the Fire visited BMO Field and walked out with a 2-2 draw thanks to a pair of former Reds, Robert Earnshaw and Qunicy Amarikwa.

Like last time Chicago has signed forward help in the week leading up to the match. The signing of French striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle, formerly of Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Sporting (Lisbon not KC), was announced on Tuesday and he should be available for selection. The signing was needed as the Fire lost Mike Magee for the season due to hip surgery.
