Toronto FC vs Philadelphia Union
PPL Park, 7pm Eastern
TSN2
Well it's been a bumpy few days and it's difficult to just set aside all the drama of Ryan Nelsen's firing, the appointing of Greg Vanney in his place and the rumoured almost sale of Jermain Defoe. Add to that the ongoing injury woes facing the beleaguered backline and you can be forgiven as Toronto FC fan if you're more than a little nervous about tonight's game.
There's a couple of questions to be answered tonight: Will TFC get that 'new coach bump' with Vanney at the helm? Will we see Ashtone Morgan back from purgatory? And will the 'unleashing' of the entire team and Michael Bradley specifically come about; or really look any different than any other lineup or formation that Nelsen put out there this year?
There's also a need for Toronto to play smart, cool and very tight defensively. With Doneil Henry likely in the lineup and the possibility of Morgan as well this will be more important than ever with Sebastien Le Toux and Conor Casey up front as not only scoring threats but also players that like to get their digs in. Not to mention Danny Cruz - he of the patented flop and faux foul for them to run into. This game also sees the first time that TFC have played Maurice Edu (so expect him to score).
