The final regular season match of the season is finally upon us and for the first time ever it won't be the last game of the season for TFC. There is so much on the line for every team in the East from 2nd to 7th (yes Orlando still has a slim chance at getting into the playoffs) it is only fitting that a match between TFC and Montreal will go a long way to deciding who ends up where in the standings.
It has been over a month since TFC has had to play a match away from BMO Field and winning four out of five at home to close the season is a big reason why the Reds have a shot at a home playoff game. TFC will have to put the loss to Columbus behind them and stay focused on the task at hand, a motivated Montreal squad.
A home match is still possible for Montreal, they would need the win Sunday as well as a DC win. Montreal has puttered through October with a 2-2 record however have been stronger in their last two matches, both 1-0 wins over Colorado and New England.
A win in Montreal is only step one as TFC can still finish 2nd in the East and get a first round bye. A win Sunday combined with a draw between DC and Columbus would mean that the only team in the East to have a better season that TFC is the potential Supporter's Shield winning New York Red Bulls.
There have been a lot of biggest 401 Derby's ever this season but this match may be the biggest. Depending on how the chip fall we could be treated to a the first ever playoff 401 Derby in history, fingers crossed.
Scoring; 2 points for the correct result, 1 point for the correct TFC score and 1 point for the correct opponent score. Post in the comment section below or mention me (@Stouffvillain) before kick-off to be eligible.
