Off the bye week TFC head to Utah for a Sunday Night Soccer match with Real Salt Lake. Sunday will be exactly one year since the two face off. It was the third match of last season when RSL gave TFC a wakeup call handily defeating TFC 3-0. RSL will also be well prepared as they are coming off of a bye week as well.
The Reds have never had any good fortune against Real Salt Lake holding a 4-3-8 record in 15 meetings. Even worse than that record is when you look at the games you see that TFC have only managed to score 12 times in those games while surrendering 23 to RSL. The last and only time that TFC has won at Rio Tinto was in 2007 thanks to Jeff Cunningham and Colin Samuel who both potted one each in the 2-1 victory.
Both managers will have to be creative in their lineup decisions this weekend due to key players away on international duty, injured or suspended. Greg Vanney will have to figure out what to do without Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore (both with the US National team) and Justin Morrow (suspended). Caldwell, Perquis and Bloom are all listed on the injury report as well. Jeff Cassar will be without internationals Nick Rimando, Luis Gil, Alvaro Saborio and Elias Vasquez. Joao Plata has been unavailable all season after suffering an injury in pre-season and won’t be back for about another month.
How does all of this shake out on the pitch on Sunday?
Scoring; 2 points for the correct result, 1 point for the correct TFC score and 1 point for the correct opponent score. Post in the comment section below or mention me (@Stouffvillain) before kick-off to be eligible.
