The Headliner: Can Canada finally take to the offensive?

Canada may have won their group, but they did so in the least convincing way possible. With just one win and two goals they were very minimalist in the process. It goes without saying, but that hasn't exactly inspired confidence going into this match.

Most agree that Canada will be able to make it past Switzerland, but few are confident in that assessment. Switzerland, despite the fact that they are in their first ever World Cup knockout game, will be a difficult team to beat.

Experience hasn't necessarily been Canada's friend at this tournament either, the players who have "been here before" haven't looked so far this tournament. It has been Canada's young players who have carried the team so far this competition. If they want to make it much further that cannot continue.

Ideally, Canada should be able to dominate both possession and play in this match, something they haven't really effectively done all tournament. What's really important, however, is how the perform in the final third where they have been less than convincing.

Matchup: Buchanan and Sesselmann against Bachmann and Dickenmann

Where the Swiss are by far the most dangerous to the Canadians is on the offensive. Both Ramona Bachmann and Laura Dickenmann are World class strikers with the ability to be game changers. Considering how few goals Canada have been able to score so far this tournament it is crucial that they limit the Swiss to few goals as well.

This will mainly fall on the centreback duo of Lauren Sesselmann and Kadeisha Buchanan. Buchanan has been Canada's best player so far this tournament. Sesselmann, on the other hand, has struggled and hasn't seen time since the New Zealand match in which she was subbed off.

It's a bit surprising that John Herdman is choosing now to go back to this potentially disastrous pairing, however they still have yet to concede a goal at this competition so far even if they have come incredibly close.
