Are you smarter than Carolina Morace?: Round 1

New, 22 comments

The smarter than game goes to the World Cup! Carolina Morace's tenure as Canadian Women's National Team was seen as a failure so it shouldn't be difficult more plenty of WTR readers to duke it out and be crowned Smarter Than Morace come the conclusion of the Women's World Cup.

As hosts of the Women's World Cup Canada will open the festivities with their first group stage match against China.  There are no push overs in Canada's group so every game will have stiff competition and force the women to be at their performance peak throughout or face the potential of going home early. With that said China seem to be in a bit of a funk in 2015.  Out of eight matches played in 2015 the Chinese have yet to taste victory coming away with a 0-4-4 record.  Last year was a much different story for China who went 9-5-4 in 18 matches.  If the 2014 China squad shows up Canada could be in for a nail biter.

Fortunately, John Herdman has the Canadian women running on all cylinders.  Playing some of the best soccer we've seen from them Canada boasts a 6-1-0 record in 2015 and will have plenty of crowd support in Commonwealth Stadium.  This World Cup will be the curtain call for some Canadian Women veterans and they would love nothing more than to go out on top of the world in the home country, it all starts Saturday.

How does Canada do in this one?
