Saturday will likely be the most heated contest between Toronto FC and Montreal Impact. Dropped points at home could end up costing TFC their first ever playoff appearance.
TFC are currently sitting in 4th with 34 points but the separation between 4th and last in the East is only eight points. Montreal are currently sitting in 6th holding onto the final playoff spot but have games in hand on everyone in the conference, a position TFC took advantage of earlier this season. When TFC had as many as five games in hand over Eastern Conference teams TFC used those games to their advantage to slowly claw their way up the table, Montreal will be looking to do the same starting Saturday.
Good news for the Reds is that designated player and maestro of the Montreal attack Ignacio Piatti will be missing the match. The bad news Didier Drogba will play on Saturday. For a defence that just seemed to find their footing last week against Orlando the Ivorian may not be who they want to see running around the 18 yard box.
The in conference matches from here on out will all have massive playoff implications and it all starts on Saturday. Do TFC grab the bull by the horns and write their own destiny or will they make their supporters bite their nails until the bitter end?
