Sebastian Giovinco is the third best player in Major League Soccer, according to player ratings released today for the upcoming FIFA 16 video game. Rated 81 overall, Giovinco trails only Steven Gerrard of the Los Angeles Galaxy and Andrea Pirlo of New York City FC. Apparently EA Sports consulted Don Garber.
With combined 90 pace and 85 overall dribbling Giovinco is the most dangerous attacker in the league, along with 4 star skill moves. Adding on top of this are 79 passing, 77 shooting and a meagre 26 defending.
So far this year the Italian has scored 17 goals and added 10 assists in a season that has him looking to be the favourite to be Major League Soccer's most valuable player.
Michael Bradley is the next highest rated on Toronto, with an 80 player rating. The American sits as the seventh highest player in the league behind Clint Dempsey of Seattle Sounders in 4th, Kaka of Orlando City SC and Didier Drogba of the Montreal Impact, all who are rated 81 overall.
Rounding out the top 10 in Major League Soccer are David Villa and Iraola of New York City FC, both rated 80, and Robbie Keane of the Los Angeles Galaxy, also rated 80. He highest rated Canadian is Will Johnson of the Portland Timbers, who is rated 70 overall.
The highest rated player in the game remains Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona with an overall rating of 94. Messi is followed by Cristiano Ronaldo at 93, and Luis Suarez, Manuel Neuer and Arjen Robben at 90 each.
Both Bradley and Giovinco's ratings mean they are gold players in the upcoming game. They are the only two Gold players on Toronto, joining 30 gold player in the game.
Players are rated out of 100 based on the aforementioned different skill categories. If a player is 75/100 or above, then they are considered a Gold player. Below that is 75-65 range which is Silver, and below that is Bronze.
Jozy Altidore and Benoit Cheyrou are the next highest rated players on Toronto FC, as both are 74 overall and fall in the silver range. Following them is Damien Perquis who has a rating of 73, Ahmed Kantari at 72 and Collen Warner at 65.
All other Toronto FC players presumably fall below the silver range or else their FIFA ratings have been yet to be posted. Either way the club's overall rating should be one of the league's highest considering the rating of the club's top end players.
FIFA 16 will be released in North American on September 22 by EA Sports, and September 24 in Europe. It remains one of the planets both popular and profitable video game franchises.
