Giovinco asked about goal, talks about misses

You don’t get this good without being a little bit of a perfectionist.

A goal and an assist on his second appearance back after injury was not enough to satisfy Sebastian Giovinco.

The Italian scored from the penalty spot to draw Toronto FC level against the Chicago Fire before a brilliant bit of skill created a second, scored by Justin Morrow.

Asked if he was pleased to hit the target once again, he said: “Yes, but saying this there was also four outside of the net that I didn’t get on target - this I’m not happy about, but of course I’m happy for the goal and I’m happy for the win.

“I’ll look to be more precise on Wednesday.”

On that evening, of course, the Philadelphia Union will visit BMO Field for one of two Eastern Conference knockout-round ties. Giovinco admitted it is a game the team had hoped not to be playing in.

“Yeah, [the bye] definitely was ours,” he added. “We showed that we could have had it this season but it’s useless to think of what could have been and it’s better just to think about what is.”
