Game Thread and Live Stream: Toronto FC vs. Montreal Impact Preseason

Follow along as Toronto FC play their first viewable preseason game of 2016, against rival Montreal Impact.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto FC are going to spend this season trying to make everyone forget how last year ended. After qualifying for the playoffs for the first ever time, Toronto were beaten 3-0 by the Montreal Impact. It made an otherwise successful season seem like a complete disappointment.

That result will still be fresh on everyone's mind when Toronto and Montreal meet again in preseason today. Nothing the club can do today would reverse the thinking around that result, but it wouldn't hurt in kick starting a season that could.

The club has yet to win a preseason match, or scrimmage, since arriving in Orlando and today would certainly be a good time to start. With the regular season just around the corner, the club has this match and one this weekend against the Philadelphia Union to get in form for the New York Red Bulls on March 6.

Today they will be missing several key players, including Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco who are resting with short term injuries. Also on the shelf are Marky Delgado, Collen Warner and Steven Beitashour. All are expected to be ready for the start of the season, with the exception of Warner.

With those players out there will be a chance for some of the younger players to get one final word in as to whether they will be with Toronto FC or in the USL this season. Players like Tsubasa Endoh and Mo Babouli do not have pro contracts yet, and both have impressed in preseason, while Jordan Hamilton and Chris Mannella will both be trying to stick with TFC.

Toronto FC - Roberts; Morrow, Moor, Perquis, Bloom; Cheyrou, Bradley, Johnson; Osorio, Endoh, Gomez

A big game for Quillan Roberts, who is looking like the favourite to backup Clint Irwin this season in MLS. With Beitashour injured, Mark Bloom will continue to play at rightback alongside Drew Moor, Justin Morrow and Damien Perquis.

With Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore out of the lineup Toronto FC will play Benoit Cheyrou in the midfield and move Jonathan Osorio to the wing. Michael Bradley and Will Johnson will join Toronto FC in the midfield, while Tsubasa Endoh and Herculez Gomez will play up top.

Montreal Impact - Kronberg; Toia, Cabrera, Ciman, Oyongo; Donadel, Alexander, Shipp; Venegas, Piatti, Oduro
