Toronto FC hosted Auston Matthews and the Buds on Sunday in a showpiece event.

Toronto FC’s BMO Field was transformed for hockey on New Year’s Day as the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL’s Centennial Classic.

The Leafs triumphed 5-4 thanks to an Auston Matthews overtime winner after the Wings had come back from 4-1 down to tie the game in the final second of regulation. More than 40,000 people were in attendance on a beautiful day by Lake Ontario.
