Liechtenstein international Nicolas Hasler arrives ahead of potential Toronto FC move

The Reds’ summer transfer window might be busier than expected.

A few days after taking Brazilian right-back Raul on trial, Toronto FC are close to a deal to sign Liechtenstein international Nicolas Hasler on a free transfer.

Waking the Red can confirm the news initially reported by Anthony Totera, with a final decision expected to be made by the club soon.

While Hasler seems to have spent most of his career in midfield, he is also listed by some sources as a right-back - Toronto’s main position of need in the absence of the injured Steven Beitashour.

The 26-year-old most recently played for FC Vaduz, who were relegated from the Swiss top flight last season. He departed when his contract expired at the end of June.

More to come.
