The United States went ahead 1-0 just before half-time in the Gold Cup final after an excellent opener from Toronto FC striker Jozy Altidore. The strike from a free-kick came late in the half after Jamaica had done well to hold the USA scoreless.
But in the 45th minute, Altidore curled a free-kick into the top-left corner of the Jamaican goal to break the deadlock. It was his 39th goal for the United States, and his second of Gold Cup.

Jamaica would equalize shortly after half-time but Jordan Morris scored an 88th-minute winner to secure the trophy.
Altidore, and Toronto FC teammate Michael Bradley joined the United States at the quarter-final stage of the tournament. The 27-year-old has since scored in the semi-final against Costa Rica and now in the final against Jamaica.
