Toronto FC II have a new head coach to replace Jason Bent. The club revealed that TFC academy director Laurent Guyot will take over the reins for the USL club.

Guyot will apparently remain in his role as academy director while also taking on new responsibilities as TFC II boss. He’ll have some newfound help at the academy level with Anthony Capotosto moving up to assistant academy director.

The Reds first hired Guyot in June 2015 after spending 13 years at various levels in France. He was previously head coach of the U-16 and U-17 French national teams, as well as the FC Nantes reserve team and US Boulogne.

Bent, who was head of TFC II last season, has returned to work on Greg Vanney’s MLS staff. He was an assistant for TFC for four years before taking over as head of II.

With this announcement, TFC announced the full coaching structure of its reserve and academy teams. Danny Dichio will remain head of TFC III, while Benoit Cheyrou, Gianni Cimini, Michael Stefano, Terry Dunfield, Marco Casalinuovo, Luciano Lombardi, and Jon Mondino will be in charge of the various age grades.

Guyot will likely be hoping to revive TFC II after a very trying 2017 season, in which they finished last in the USL’s Eastern Conference. There’s plenty of turnover in the roster, with new draft picks coming in and a handful of 2017 regulars released.
