Hey.
So, as Oliver announced the other day, I’ll be taking over from him as editor here at Waking the Red. Of course, I’ve already been writing stuff in the past couple days, but I figured I should introduce myself more formally before it’s too late.
As some of you (hopefully) may know, I’ve been writing at WTR for about a year and a half, mostly on game preview stuff. Luckily that means I’ve been able to see all the great work Oli’s put into the site, and hopefully I can keep that up.
If you’re interested in reading a bit more about me, I’ll shamelessly plug this piece I did last year about my life as a Toronto FC supporter. That’s probably all the self-promotion I can handle, though.
Anyway, the real reason for this post is to announce that Waking the Red is looking for new contributors for 2018. We can always use some fresh faces, and with all the growth TFC’s seen in the past year or so, I’m sure there’ll be people newly interested in coming aboard. Just as the Reds want to improve on their best-ever year, so too do we.
On top of that, WTR has never been a TFC-only zone. If you’re interested the men’s or women’s Canadian national team, let us know! I’m also expecting 2018 to be a huge year for the Canadian Premier League, and we’ll definitely be ramping up our coverage of that.
We’ve always prided ourselves on being the voice of the TFC community. If you’re a fan, this is where you can be heard.
Whether you’re interested in writing, graphic design, or other multimedia stuff (video?), we’d love to have you. So, just answer a couple quick questions on the form below, and we’ll send you an email as soon as possible. We’ll probably want to see some kind of work samples, so gather some links or files if you can.
You can also send any questions you might have to wakingthered@gmail.com.
Of course, experience writing about TFC or Canadian soccer isn’t strictly necessary — we want anybody with a knack for writing (or anything else), and a passion for the subject.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Happy New Year!
