Canada Soccer has unveiled a new red jersey, which both the men’s and women’s national teams will wear. They’ve gone for a simple, bright look, with some white trim on the shoulders. The shirt also appears to have subtle maple leaves printed on the chest (not too unlike Toronto FC’s 2013/14 home shirt).
The new jersey was revealed in a video posted on Canada Soccer’s social media, featuring a number of national team players like Christine Sinclair, Ashley Lawrence, Scott Arfield, and Junior Hoilett.
Canada’s previous home kit, also an Umbro creation, featured a white stripe down the left side of the chest. This edition of the jersey has a more solid red look, with the leaves on the chest adding something unique.
The women’s national team will likely wear the new kit in their upcoming international friendly match on June 10 against Germany. It should also see lots of action in the fall, as the women compete for World Cup qualification in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship, and the men play in the CONCACAF Nations League.
What’s your take on the new kit?
