Footy Talks Podcast: Pitch problems at BMO Field

Plus a number of other topics from across Canadian soccer

MLS: Chicago Fire at Toronto FC John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Choppy. That’s the only word Michael Bradley would offer when asked, multiple times, about the field conditions at BMO Field during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire. It’s hard to really blame anyone other than mother nature, but the field conditions certainly haven’t been ideal at the stadium this year.

What effect that might have on Toronto FC’s current home stand is a central topic on this week’s Footy Talks Podcast. Show regular Oliver Platt of the TFC Report is back to talk to Mitchell Tierney about all things Reds as they try to get out of their post-CCL funk.

The pair look at all the factors that Toronto FC have been dealing with, from injuries to the aforementioned field, CCL heartbreak and finally to what those injuries have done to their depth off the bench.

The pair then take a tour around Canada to discuss a number of other topics related to soccer in this country. They take a quick look in at the not so great situations in Vancouver and Montreal right now as those two clubs get off to shaky start to their respective seasons.

Then it’s a look at the CanPL where the original eight have been rumoured, and proves the league is making continued progress. Finally, what will the relationship be between Toronto FC and York 9 now that the reds have a new competitor on their turf?

Also discussed is the UEFA Champions League final upcoming between Real Madrid and Liverpool, the El Classico this weekend and how a Turkish soccer fan creatively got around his stadium ban.
