Footy Talks: What does winning the Voyageurs Cup mean for Toronto FC’s season?

Plus debriefing the loss against NYCFC and some Manchester United talk

Tagwa Moyo/ Waking the Red

Finally, something tangible to celebrate at BMO Field. After a bizarre season, Toronto FC lifted the Voyageurs last night, for the seventh time, and are now back in the Concacaf Champions League for next season.

With that in their pocket, we now wait and see if it will give them the boost they need to make the playoffs. Last night was vintage Toronto FC, three goals from Jozy Altidore and five in total as they pummelled the Vancouver Whitecaps.

But if they can’t get a win on Saturday against the San Jose Earthquakes, that positive momentum will once again die quickly. Charlie O’Connor Clarke and Mitchell Tierney talk about what this cup win could mean for Toronto FC going forward on an all Waking the Red edition of the Footy Talks podcast.

They also delve into questions about the play of Alex Bono, whether or not Osorio might stay with the club for good and why missing the playoffs might not be the end of the world for Toronto FC.

The boys finish up with some talk about Charlie’s beloved Manchester United. Will there be fallout in the Pogba-Mourinho situation? And where will the red devils finish this season?

All that and more on today’s podcast. Listen below or subscribe on Itunes. We would also appreciate if you left a comment and rating!
