Footy Talks Podcast: Toronto FC training camp starts with a bang

What is going on?

Soccer: Concacaf Champions League-Toronto FC at Guadalajara Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been several years since we’ve seen an offseason quite like this in Toronto. Recent years have been all about re-stocking, re-tooling and improving.

That was supposed to be the plan this year... or so we thought. Instead, we’ve been treated to a wild offseason that has seen two key pieces of the Toronto FC treble winning side depart.

First it was Bezbatchenko, and now Vazquez as part of a bombshell bit of news released on the first day of the club’s training camp. It all makes an already tenuous offseason so much more unpredictable.

James Grossi of MLSSoccer.com has been at the BMO training ground the past couple of days and gives us an inside look at a chaotic few days for the club. He joins Mitchell Tierney on the Footy Talks podcast to talk about reaction to the Vazquez departure.

The pair also discuss the situation with the designated players, and how that could be a heated topic throughout the season. They then break down the new (if you can call them that) signings for Toronto FC.

They finish up with some talk about new Toronto FC draft pick Griffin Dorsey, some of the club’s new exciting prospects and a new player in training camp.
