Footy Talks: Why it’s tough to predict how Toronto FC will handle playoff soccer

Plus reaction to a historic win for CANMNT

As if the MLS Cup playoffs weren’t already unpredictable enough, the league decided the change the format this year. Not only is it now tough to know who will emerge victorious, it is also difficult to predict what type of team the new format will favour when it gets underway this weekend.

With that in mind, it is hard to know what Toronto FC’s 2019 MLS playoff campaign will look like, as James Grossi and Mitchell Tierney discuss on this week’s Footy Talks podcast. They also chat the new “Liam Fraser-Michael Bradley debate”, Jonathan Osorio’s incredible performance for Canada and the key to beating DC United.

The first part of the show is all about the Canadian men’s national team after their historic win over the United States. James and Mitchell chat about John Herdman’s influence and what this means for the team both mentally and practically.

Finally, they wrap up the show by discussing the upcoming U-17 World Cup and what that might mean for Canada who face a tough test in the first match of the tournament against the hosts from Brazil.
