Toronto FC advanced to the conference finals after a 2-1 victory over NYC FC on Wednesday. They’ll face Atlanta United this week for the Eastern Conference Finals. The Western Conference finals are now set between LAFC and the Seattle Sounders. Here’s how this all sorted out.
Seattle Sounders 2-0 Real Salt Lake
The Seattle Sounders shutout Real Salt Lake on Wednesday to advance to the Western Conference Finals. Gustav Svensson got the Sounders on the board at 64’. Nicolas Lodeiro brought their lead to two at 81’. Real Salt Lake’s Everton Luiz was shown a red card at 83’ for a pretty ugly slide tackle. Seattle didn’t capitalize with the man advantage. On to the next for the Sounders!

Atlanta United 2-0 Philadelphia Union
I had my money on seeing the Philadelphia Union face Toronto FC in the conference finals. I was mistaken. They were shutout by Atlanta United. Julian Gressel opened up scoring at the 10’ mark. Josef Martinez did what he does best. He scored the final goal of the game at 80’. Toronto FC will face off against Atlanta United next.

LAFC 5-3 LA Galaxy
LAFC finally beat the LA Galaxy when it really counted. Though some calls were questionable, LAFC will be advancing to the Conference Finals and playing the Seattle Sounders. Carlos Vela struck first at 16’ and again at 40’. Cristian Pavon quickly responded at 41’ to get the Galaxy on the board. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his first MLS playoff goal at 55’ to tie it up. Diego Rossi (66’) and Adama Diomande (68’) brought LAFC’s lead to 4-2. Rolf Fletcher scored the Galaxy’s last goal at 77’. It all ended with Diomande’s second goal of the night at 80’.
On to the Western Conference Finals.
