Heading into Sunday’s MLS Decision Day there are only a few guarantees for Toronto FC. They have secured their playoff spot along with six other opponents in the Eastern Conference. They will not be playing New York City FC in the opening round of the playoffs, who have secured the conferences top spot.
Otherwise, there are a bunch of different scenarios wherein Toronto FC could play a number of different opponents either on the road or, although unlikely, at home when the playoffs begin in a few weeks.
The Reds have one game remaining against the Columbus Crew, but they will certainly be scoreboard watching as D.C. United take on FC Cincinnati and the New York Red Bulls battle the Montreal Impact.
Mitchell Tierney and Michael Leach of 680News and OneSoccer spoke about the teams Toronto could face in the first round of the MLS playoffs on this week’s Footy Talks Podcast. They also spoke about how the team should handle this final match against Columbus in terms of lineup and otherwise.
Also discussed were the lineups released by Canada and the United States, the Canadian Premier League final being decided and a discussion about Canadian Premier League players as it relates to the men’s national team.
