Who said TFC had no defence?

Once again, a pair of Reds have made the MLS Team of the Week as goalkeeper Quentin Westberg and defender Omar Gonzalez have been named to the the Week 31 side.

Gonzalez has been a steady presence at the back for Toronto FC since his arrival at the end of June. In 15 matches, the 31-year-old has led TFC to a 7-2-6 record, making the Reds a tougher team to beat down the stretch. The centre-back has been crucial to Toronto’s most recent 10-game unbeaten run in MLS to end the season.

Westberg’s spot on the squad, meanwhile, would’ve been difficult to imagine a week ago after the TFC goalkeeper collided with Chicago Fire attacker Nicolas Gaitain — eventually forcing Westberg to leave the game. The netminder showed no signs of any repercussions from the injury, however, bouncing back to post a clean-sheet on Toronto FC’s Decision Day 1-0 win over the Columbus Crew.
