Toronto FC’s path to securing a fifth playoff berth in six seasons has become clearer.

Today, Major League Soccer announced its 2020 schedule ahead of its 25th season, which kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 29 with 16 teams in action. As we learned earlier, the Reds will open their season in California that day, taking on the San Jose Earthquakes before returning home on Saturday Mar. 7 to take on their rivals from the Big Apple New York City FC.

There will be several dates that Toronto FC have circled on their calendar ahead of the 2020 season, highlighted by an MLS Cup Final rematch with the Seattle Sounders on July 18 at BMO Field. The Reds will also play two matches against 401 Rivals Montreal Impact (one home, one away) in addition to hosting their other Canadian rival, Vancouver Whitecaps FC on May 2 — which could be the Toronto’s first look at Canadian international Lucas Cavallini in a Vancouver jersey after he signed for the club earlier this week.

Also of note, TFC have quite a significant amount of Saturday home matches. In fact, the Reds will play 15 of their 17 matches at BMO on Saturday, so clear your weekend plans if you plan on being a frequent visitor.
