Toronto FC fell (cough) 4-0 in Panama to C.A. Independiente on Tuesday night in one of the most disappointing losses in club history. So, there could hardly be a better time than now to roll out what we’re trying out this year with regards to post-game player ratings.
This new format is similar to the old Rate the Reds in that you’ll have your say on every TFC player who took the pitch, but instead of ranking them in relation to each other you’ll be giving each player a rating out of 10. We got the idea from Sounder at Heart; this is a format several other SB Nation blogs have been using. It may not be as pretty as our old method, but I cannot stress enough how much less of a pain it is to set up.
Here’s the rating criteria SAH uses; we’ll go with that for now, but we can refine it as the year goes on:
1 - not a pro (USL/NASL/MLS) quality performance
4 - average USL starter
6 - average MLS starter
9 - MLS All Star
10 - MLS MVP-quality performance
So, keep that in mind when making your picks. Try to stay within that range. I realize this particular game will be one for which most of you will want to vent a lot of rage by giving everybody a 1, but let’s try not to do that, eh?
Anyway, happy rating! If the embed below doesn’t work, go directly to the form here.
