Come watch the 2019 season opener with Waking the Red on the big screen!

Plus a chance to hang out with Justin Morrow and Jonathan Osorio

MLS: Canadian Championship-Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs Toronto FC Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

After what has felt like an incredibly long wait, the MLS season is finally back on Saturday. Toronto FC are in Philadelphia taking on the Union and looking to improve on what was mostly a disastrous 2018 campaign.

We here at Waking the Red are very excited to have actual soccer to watch and write about again, and we’d love to watch the game with all of you. Our friends over at Footy Talks are hosting a “Super Soccer Saturday” viewing party over at The Rec Room in Toronto.

This includes a panel of both Toronto FC and El Clasico talk, featuring TSN’s Gareth Wheeler, Joshua Kloke of the Athletic, Carlos Verde and our very own Mitchell Tierney. The Toronto FC game, followed by El Clasico, will then be shown on the movie theatre-sized big screen. Other members of the Waking the Red staff will also be in attendance.

Doors open for the event at 11, with the panel getting underway around noon. The first 200 people through the door will also receive two complimentary drink tickets as well as snacks. There will also be a draw for official La Liga merch.

Meet Toronto FC’s Jonathan Osorio and Justin Morrow with A Football Podcast

Also coming up tomorrow, Kristian Jack and Steven Caldwell of TSN are hosting a live taping of their “A Football Podcast.”

The event has quite the lineup of guests from the Canadian soccer community. TSN’s Luke Wileman, Toronto FC’s Jonathan Osorio and Justin Morrow, Forge FC’s Kyle Bekker, York 9’s Manny Aparicio, and former Canadian Women’s National Team player Carmelina Moscato will all join the guys on stage. Waking the Red writers, including James Grossi, and other media members will also be in attendance.

Waking the Red readers can use the code “afp” to get $5 off tickets.
