Footy Talks: Toronto FC still several pieces away

If Concacaf proved anything, it was that this team is incomplete

There was a lot missing from Toronto FC’s game over their two-legged loss against Independiente. Over the two legs, it became abundantly clear that if the club want to play their current style they need several pieces added to the roster.

One of those could well be announced soon, with Toronto FC president Bill Manning confirming that the Alejandro Pozeulo signing is at the paperwork stages. But with plenty of TAM still to be used, that can’t be where the signings end.

Toronto FC have plenty of question marks at both ends of the field, and while some of those will certainly have to be solved internally, there is plenty Ali Curtis can do to support his team.

Oliver Platt and Mitchell Tierney discussed what the team still needs in order to be competitive this season on this week’s Footy Talks podcast. They also look ahead to the season opener tomorrow against the Philadelphia Union.

Other topics of discussion include Toronto FC’s signing of Quentin Westberg as a backup goalkeeper, what Pozuelo will bring to the club and the new Canadian Premier League schedule.
